​Collectively, the Peninsula Community Foundation staff brings over 100 years of nonprofit leadership experience in service to the Foundation and our community. Our small, dedicated professional team is honored to be the administrative hands and feet for PCF, our donors, partners, and programs.

Adelia Thompson

Chief Executive Officer

Adelia Thompson brings nearly four decades of leadership and community engagement experience to her role as Chief Executive Officer. Adelia's career is marked by a deep commitment to institutional advancement and philanthropy. She came to the Hampton Roads area in 2011 to lead Christopher Newport University's first comprehensive campaign. She later served as Chief of Staff, Interim President, and Senior Counsel to the university's president before retiring from CNU in 2024.

Committed to her community, Adelia serves on the board of Riverside Regional Medical Center and has previously served on the board of the Peninsula Foodbank. She lives in Newport News with her husband J. Lynn and their golden retriever, Bumper.

Jennifer Brambley

Chief Financial Officer

Jennifer serves as the primary steward of the Foundation’s financial health and strategic resources. She oversees day-to-day accounting and manages our diverse charitable funds, working closely with fund holders to align their philanthropic giving with their long-term charitable goals, infusing more than $40 million to date back into the community.

Tammy Flynn

Director of Communications & Give Local 757

Tammy brings over 25 years of senior leadership to the team, she orchestrates the organization’s full marketing and communication ecosystem, bridging the gap between strategic vision and community impact. Her award-winning outreach strategies have gained recognition at the regional, state, and national levels, cementing her reputation as a leader in her field. As the head of Give Local 757, Tammy manages the region’s premier giving day, an initiative that has successfully funneled $14 million into the local nonprofit sector

Abigail McCarty

Operations and Administrative Coordinator

In order to provide the foundation's team the structure they need to serve others, Abigail helps create an organized, efficient, and supportive internal environment by managing many diverse tasks, including: daily office logistics, communications, social media, hospitality and event planning, website updates, and more. ​

​Lori Ward​

Director of Scholarships, Special Programs & Support Services

With more than 32 years of experience directing a non-profit educational ministry, Lori brings a deep passion for children and youth to the Foundation. Lori believes education is the key to unlocking potential and works to ensure that financial barriers do not hinder academic or career goals. She manages our 22 college scholarships and educator grants, helping to support current teachers as well as the next generation of leaders.  She plays a leadership role in the Children's Holiday Fund to ensure that local non-profits receive the financial resources needed to support their holiday events serving the underserved on the Peninsula. ​
